Currently, cylindrical implants which are screwed or impacted using a rigorous methodology, followed by osteointegration, are hugely reliable. But the anatomical morphology of the implantation site may be a contra-indication to cylindrical implants (maxillary sinus, dental canal, thin ridges). Clinical experience shows that cylindrical implants with a length of less than 10 mm rarely give satisfactory results in the long term. Professor Yves Commissionat (Cochin Hospital, Paris) and Dr Francis Poulmaire(Avignon) have developed a plate and an installation system which complies with the specifications imposed on modern implantology.
